We're The Future —
Memphis Young Professionals Government Initiative
W.T.F Young Professionals Government (We're The Future) is a Memphis-based young professionals leadership initiative that mirrors how our local government actually works — Mayor + Mayor’s Office, Memphis City Council, and Memphis City Shelby County Schools Board of Education — so young leaders can learn civic power through real-life exposure, mentorship, and hands-on experience.
This is not a campaign. This is civic education + leadership development.
🧭 MISSION
W.T.F: We’re The Future – Young Professionals Government exists to prepare the next generation of Memphis leaders through hands-on civic education, leadership development, and real-world exposure to local government.
Our mission is to demystify how government works, build confidence in civic spaces, and create a clear pipeline for young professionals to engage, lead, and influence the future of Memphis with integrity and purpose.
👑 FROM THE FOUNDER
Hi, I’m Brilann “Miss Frayser” Coleman — a Memphis native committed to building leadership, opportunity, and community power from the ground up. My civic and political education journey began at 12 years old, when I served as the Memphis Ambassador and youth spokesperson for the Rock the Vote Memphis, TN campaign from 2012–2016, educating and informing young people about civic engagement and local politics.
Years later, with lived experience, leadership growth, and deeper community impact, I’m back — bigger, bolder, and more intentional — creating pathways for young professionals to understand government, take up space in civic rooms, and lead Memphis with purpose, knowledge, and confidence.
W.T.F (We’re The Future) is one of the ways we make that happen.
🌱 VISION
We envision a Memphis where young professionals are not just observers of government — but prepared participants and future decision-makers.
W.T.F aims to develop informed, confident, and community-centered leaders who understand policy, governance, and public service, and who are equipped to step into leadership roles across government, education, advocacy, and community development.
W.T.F: We’re The Future – Young Professionals Government actively seeks partnerships with:
-
Elected officials
-
Government offices
-
Community leaders
-
Educational institutions
-
Civic organizations
Partners may support by:
-
Mentoring one young professional (goal: ~4 hours/month)
-
Allowing shadowing at meetings or events (as appropriate)
-
Providing letters of commitment or support
-
Investing resources into leadership development
Together, we can build a stronger, more informed future leadership pipeline for Memphis.
